Once you add DotDotSmile to your closet, you will find yourself buying more and more, and soon the twirly dresses will take over. These dresses are beautiful, and put confidence and smiles on every girl’s face who wears one. But now comes the question- how do I take care of DotDotSmile?
I believe that kids clothes should be simple. I don’t want to fuss over something that will only be worn a few months before outgrowing them. (Even though many of these dresses actually last over a year before they get too tight). But at the same time, I don’t want an expensive item to be ruined in the washing machine! Caring for your Dotdotsmile dresses and rompers shouldn’t be a full time job. You shouldn’t need a separate laundry day just to wash the fun from the twirl.
So, following company and peer recommendations, paired with my own experience, I have developed the ultimate guide to caring for your DotDotSmile Dresses.
Caring for your DotDotSmile
- Wash with clothes only. You don’t want big heavy towels beating them up and leaving fuzzballies. If you have a delicates bag, use it. Some front loading washers have holes that can pull the fabric and leave ballies or pulls. No one wants that!
- Spot Clean before washing. Stubborn stain? Although the dresses are extremely durable and stand up strong against kids being kids, stains do happen. Avoid using harsh pre-wash chemicals, which could cause the spot to fade. My favorites? Fels naptha, dish soap, and a microfiber cloth, in that order. If one doesn’t do the job the others will!
- Cold Water Only. Hot water sets stains, and also dulls colors. I also wash them inside out.
- Lay flat or hang to dry. We keep a portable hanging rack by the washer for all of our DotDots, and an occasional button up or blouse. Tossed it in the dryer? Oops! Good news, it’s probably ok. The fabric is a unique blend, and in many cases does not shrink or distort.
