Goodbye, August

goodbye, august

Y’all. For the first time since April, I was feeling good. I planned out my month early, I wrote it out on paper and everything, and I was determined to crush it. For three straight weeks I went to the gym, I ran my heart out, and I racked up those miles ran and pounds lifted. Damn, it felt good.

Thanks to Hurricane Harvey, my streak hit the fan. I brought my running sneakers when we evacuated, but frankly… when there’s a chance your home might not be there when you return from an impromptu “vacation” to Greenville, North Carolina, running is the last thing on your mind.

But anywho…

despite the setbacks, I still logged 29 miles for the month.

This is rounded down to the nearest whole mile. So I consider it a win for the #Run365 goal!

I also went two weeks with pushups, leg lifts, and squats each morning. This might have helped my running, or it might have made my hips sore. I took three weeks off, and I will start again in September.

I logged 5 days focusing arms at the gym, although I admittedly did not bring my notebook most days. Of the five logged days, I was most consistent across the four arm machines at 60 pounds, although I improved greatly at 70 pounds from the first logged (August 8) to last logged (August 20), so I definitely got stronger there! Shoulder press is still a struggle; I will rededicate September to Shoulders!
