At this point in my life, I’ve realized the impact earrings have on your overall appearance. FYI- If you wear a full face of makeup, curl your hair, and fully accessorize before heading to the school drop off in the morning, this post is not for you. Y’all, I am not a morning person, and tend to roll out of bed into the car and usually remember to bring the small child with me. My morning routine consists of going pee, throwing my hair in a pony, and pulling a sweatshirt over my night shirt to hide the fact that I’m not wearing a bra. But I’m ok with that, and not striving to be that mom because I know it’s not me. So when I do get ready for the day, I want it to be quick and simple. Statement earrings are one of the easiest ways to be less mess and crush that comparison trap. Especially when mornings are rough, or getting ready is not your forte.
Do you struggle to wear statement earrings? Maybe you think they don’t match, or they’re too expensive. Whatever your excuse, toss it aside. Statement earrings are great, and you will love them soon as well.
For the longest time (almost three years) I had a child on my chest, who’s wandering hands made jewelry difficult to wear. Especially earrings, because when those get pulled they really hurt. Now that she’s fully weaned and I’ve got my body back to myself, I can finally wear earrings daily as well! They’re such a quick way to pull together your appearance and give the illusion of beauty preparation (even if you only spent five minutes).

Back in the day, statement earrings were reserved for, well, making a statement. We were expected to wear basic studs each day, and save the dangling beauties for the special occasions or a night out. Not anymore! The statement earring industry has definitely expanded to have options for every occasion. There’s always an excuse to wear earrings!
Tips for Choosing and Wearing Statement Earrings
- Chose a lightweight earring that isn’t going to tug at your ear. Leather and acrylic are my favorite earring materials, after too many pageants had metal and rhinestones tugging at my lobes.
- Pro Tip: If I purchase earrings with a post, I tend to swap out their backs for a wider supportive back, which makes them more comfortable.
- Look for quality metal! Cheap metals can turn your ear lobes green, just like a cheap ring. Yuck. They need to be durable to survive the daily errands and weekend adventures our family goes on.
- Most importantly, I want them to align with my daily aesthetic. This means skipping over anything oversized, extra blingy, or too bold. They need to blend into my wardrobe and work with multiple outfits. When choosing brightly colored earrings, make sure they match the pieces in your wardrobe.
- Statement earrings should be the focal accessory. So avoid necklaces or too many bangles, and let the earrings do the talking.
- Experiment with hair pulled up, or let down. I tend to prefer dangle earrings with my hair half up, studs when my hair is up, and definitely get frustrated when my hair is down and dangles get caught.
Gold Palm Leaves
These were the first pair of earrings I bought after moving to South Carolina. I thought palm leaves were fitting for the occasion, and I wasn’t wrong. Without a doubt, these earrings get the most compliments whenever I wear them.
Navy Tassels
I actually bought two pairs of these when they were on sale (snagged two pairs cheaper than one pair full price!). The second pair has the same design, but multicolored, and is a little too colorful for my preference. I save those for special occasions. The navy, on the other hand, matches so much more and can be worn daily. Plus, did you see classic blue is Pantone’s color of the year? I’m fixing to wear these beauts a lot more this year.
Pink Crystal Studs
Those my dangling rhinestone earring days are over, you can’t blame a girl for wanting some bling. Truth is, I don’t have any plain studs these days. I used to, but they’ve gotten lost over the years. So now my only pair of studs are these pink crystals. They’re great for a little sparkle without the dangle.
Faux Leather Teardrops
Leather teardrops were super popular, and overpriced, for a while. Thankfully, supply and demand have balanced them out a bit and they’re more affordable. I adore my leopard print faux leather teardrops, and wear them 2-3x per week. They’re so lightweight, I forget I’m even wearing them. These have actually gone swimming with me, accidentally of course, and dried fine.
Red Fringe
These earrings have made their way around the block once or twice, but still held up despite the elements. The frame is metal, so slightly heavier than I’d like, and before I swapped the backs out they would fall out. One of them lived in my car for a few weeks while the other was on my TV stand. But they are reunited and add a nice pop of red to my wardrobe.

Storing Your Statement Earrings
The biggest secret to wearing jewelry every day is the ability to see everything at once, and easily access it. Storing your earrings, or any jewelry, in a closed box usually means it never crosses your mind. Mainly because it never crosses your vision. Look for an organizer that easily displays all of your earrings, and other jewelry, so you can grab and go in the morning. No more digging, untangling, or seeking them out in the other room.
Note: I could not find my exact organizer online. But, there is one very similar to the one I have. I picked up my organizer at Hobby Lobby (totally random place, but it was on sale and works great.) One similar organizer is available on Amazon under $30, and has a place for all your earrings, necklaces, and rings. I actually store my spare Apple Watch bands as well! (If you don’t know, I love my Apple Watch; You can read about it here.)
