Back when I was pregnant, Jonathan and I made an uneducated decision to go for a walk at the Gulf Terrace Hike and Bike trail in Beaumont. We have no idea that there was no exit points, few benches, or that it would be so darn hot. We didn’t bring anything to drink, or wear sunscreen. Somehow we survived, but I don’t quite know how. The only saving grace was that we had walked the shorter option!
After Gingie was born, I was terrified of leaving the house alone. I didn’t feel she was old enough to attend playdates. By random happenstance, I found a group of mothers at a baby expo a few days before my due date. I had decided to walk with them back in September, however waited quite some time before joining them once more.
This time, the walk was sponsored by Whole Mothering Center but also hosted by the local chapter of Hike it Baby! I was super excited to have a hiking club of mothers and young children in the area. I was super excited to provide another opportunity for CA and myself to get out and get active.
The best part about Hike it Baby is the ability to host “hikes”, meaning once I attended a HiB hosted hike, I could host my own. I already thought of multiple places I would like to lead hikes in the community.
Thankfully, this time at the Hike and Bike, it was not nearly as hot as that horrible day over the summer. We had gone in the morning and not 4pm, which was probably our first mistake. There was a great group of ladies, and some met us halfway along the trail. It was so much fun. I’ve decided to stick with it this time and attend the walks and yoga!
