Hey friends!
It’s been a while since I’ve shared my favorite things. Heck, it’s been a while since I’ve posted consistently in the first place. Oops.
As we move into 2023, let’s recap some things I could not have lived without this past year.
Heated Blanket
I lived in upstate New York for 25 years and never had a heated blanket. They existed, and I remember hearing about them. I remember hearing about one catching on fire too. So I never used one.
Then I moved to Texas and lost my ability to exist in the cold, so when I moved to South Carolina I began to suffer in the winter. No, it doesn’t get as cold here as it did up in New York, but I don’t have the cold weather clothes or the home insulation I used to either. Brrr.
Mini Ice Maker
Confession: I didnt drink water properly until I was an adult. Literally, I only drank juice or tea. When I finally drank water I was spoiled with an ice machine on my fridge door, and I was devastated when I moved into a rental without one.
I know! I can just use ice cube trays. I tried. But there wasn’t enough room in my freezer to maintain the pure volume of ice cubes I require. I really use a lot of ice cubes.
Finally I splurged on a mini ice cube tray and I cannot live without it. It’s fairly quick to refill, and makes a decent amount of ice cubes. Downside, it’s a bit loud at night, but I learned to tune it out. It also needs to be cleaned out very well every few months or bacteria will grow.
Menstrual Discs
Y’all… I have posted about these on my Instagram and got a bunch of feedback on them but this is another rave. (Let me know if you want a full post on these!) Menstrual discs are kinda like a cup, but can be worn during sex. They stay in place for 12 hours. There’s a learning curve for removal, but insert with similar ease to a tampon. I opt for disposable, but there a reusable as well.
3D Doodle Pen
Sassy bought this 3D doodle brown with some of her birthday money, and got straight to playing. She wrote her name, made a cube, and some rings on the same day she brought it home.
The kit comes with everything you need- the pen, a charger, some plastic, and an instruction booklet with templates. It’s definitely not easy to make 3D art, but it’s a lot of fun. It takes time and patience to crate the masterpieces you see online, but it provides a lot of entertainment practicing.
PFG Longsleeve Shirts
As much as I resisted these shirts for the first few months of summer, I finally snagged one on clearance and quickly got hooked. Pun intended. I have multiple in every color and multiple styles (with a hood, with finger holes, etc) I didn’t want to believe that long sleeve shirts could keep me cool, but these do. The material is sweat wicking, and also has SPF protection. I especially love wearing them on the beach and when I’m driving in my car. Goodbye, watch band suntan.
I hope y’all have had a wonderful start to fall. Winter is coming and there’s bound to be more adventures ahead of us.
