Quarantine Comfortably: Joggers

Show of hands if you’ve worn jeans this week. Not me. Heck, I can’t even tell you the last time I’ve worn jeans because I have been living in joggers. Yall… these are a new “mom uniform” staple in my wardrobe. I cannot believe I’ve been sleeping on these.

Joggers aren’t new, by any means. Various styles of joggers have been around for years (don’t believe me? Watch an episode of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) but the current trend has just rotated back about a year ago. Initially I was hesitant, but after my husband fell in love with a pair of RedCon1 joggers, it peaked my interst. Truth is, I still had “sweatpants with the elastic” trauma from 1994. Eww. So I snagged a cropped hoodie and matching joggers set from Kora Fitness, before they rebranded to Acta, and they were ok. But not my favorite. I stuck to leggings, my ride or die loungewear.

So I’ve finally used the covid-19 quarantine as an excuse to invest in new joggers, and they aren’t anything like the flashbacks from my youth still haunting my memories.  First, I searched a few retailers for joggers. There are so many available right now, from places like Walmart, Target, American Eagle. I was looking for multiple pairs, so looking for low price. But also I wanted variety.  I have shopped from Shein in the past, with a decent success rate, and decided to try three joggers from a similar retailer, Romwe, this time.

The best part about joggers is the versatility. Wear them to work out, wear them to work, wear them to sleep. They can be worn around the house, and when we finally escape lockdown they are still functional. There are so many styles and materials, it’s possible to never wear jeans again.

My (new) Favorite Joggers

These grey athletic joggers are super lightweight, with a slightly “sweat wicking” feeling material. I love the heather print, and the black edging adds a super sporty detail. The waistband is not as comfortable as my favorite yoga bands, but it is super stretchy and the drawstring is a round lace with metal grommets. I feel like they could easily be dressed up with a pair of black boots and a black cami.

The fabric on these pink joggers is definitely not what I expected. They’re super papery feeling, even though they look soft. They almost feel like a business casual skirt, but look like fuzzy sweats. There’s a faux logo on the leg, which is either cute or weird. I haven’t decided. I sized up, and I’m glad. These joggers do not have pockets.  Even though they’re slightly baggy, the ankle is tight and required some effort to slip my foot in. These would be super cute with a white body suit and blazer for work.

Though I really like my DIY tie dye sweats, I fell in love with these bright, bold joggers. I hesitated because they are far from a neutral, and definitely not a capsule wardrobe item. When they arrived they were much brighter than I anticipated, and I was worried I’d never wear them. But as soon as I tried them on it was true love. They are incredibly soft, and very comfortable. The ankle elastic is loose enough where I could throw it back and push them mid calm on a sunny day.

Which of the joggers above is your favorite pair?
