The Thrive Experience

We are all looking for the next best thing, sothing to take us to the next level. Sometime’s coffee isn’t enough when we are constantly moving, constantly struggling to find healthy food and keep active. Life is a struggle, when really we were designed to thrive! Insert, the Thrive Experience. Le Vel has a three in one wellness package that claims to be everything a mama on the go needs: nutrition, energy, mental clarity, alertness. So I decided to give it a go.

Accidental Insomnia

As a toddler mom, those few hours after bedtime are my busiest hours. That is when I do all my cleaning, blogging, photographing, broadcasting, feed the cats, and save the world. Most nights, my husband goes into bed around 10:30, and I follow him not too long after.

Day 1 with Thrive, I noticed there was a strange infomercial on the television and realized it was after 3am. Oops! I promptly ended whatever it was I thought I was accomplishing, and went to sleep. I had no trouble falling asleep.

Day 2 and 3 were not as extreme. I let the clock get away from me, but caught it by 1am. Day 4, I decided to pull my patch off early. I actually felt myself getting tired shortly after Husband went to sleep– the three nights prior, I had no feeling of sleepiness. Day 5, I had planned on pulling off the patch early again, but forgot until about midnight. As soon as I pulled it off I felt the tiredness sink in. Potentially related, but also potentially a coincidence, both nights I pulled the patch off and didn’t immediately replace it, I felt a mild headache take over. This could also be related to the tiredness I was not feeling prior and hit me once removed.

Anecdotal Negatives

First and foremost: Do not attempt to remove the patch like a bandaid. Holy shit, that thing is designed to stay tight and you will regret attempting to pull it off in one swift movement. Heed my warning and use a wet washcloth or coconut oil to loosen the adhesive. You will also need to scrub off the excess residue, unless you want multiple square outlines on your bicep or forearm.

Five days is not long enough to rule out outside factors that could have caused a negative affect. For example, on Day 2 I drank the strawberry flavored shake. I also happened to have frequent trips to the bathroom. I cannot confirm that the strawberry shake caused the release of my bowels (although it is a possible side effect of gut flora balancing), and it very well could have been something I ate or a random bug.

Note: All experiences and opinions are entirely my own. I received the 5 day sample complimentary, and no compensation was given for this blog post. In fact, she sent the sample without knowing about my blog.
