St. Patrick’s Day Kids Crafts Roundup

It’s never too early to start teaching the kiddos about different holidays. St. Patrick’s Day is an easy one because there are tons of quick and easy St. Patrick’s Day Crafts that are pretty cheap and fun. If you have green paint there is probably a St. Patrick’s Day craft for you!

In January we received a Kiwi Crate that was themed around rainbows, and Sassy loved learning about the different colors, and how different colors mix to make new colors. She really likes pulling the fluff out of the rainbow pillow, but perhaps that isn’t very educational. Nonetheless, I wanted to do some rainbow themed St. Patrick’s Day crafts to reiterate those concepts and ideas.

I chose crafts that are “less mess”, with room for some self guided creativity, and that didn’t require me to buy full sized products or too many new items. If I have supplies on hand, that’s a lucky day for me!

So here is a round-up of St. Patrick’s Day Crafts for your Toddlers!

Coffee Filter Shamrocks are super simple, use supplies you already have on hand (coffee filters, markers, and possibly a spray bottle), and teach water diffusion and color mixing. Plus, you can hang the shamrocks in the window and now they’re suncatchers. (Read more on Housing a Forest)

Handprint Rainbows wouldn’t have worked last year, when Sassy was going through a “dirty hand rebellion” and refused to let us paint her hands. Keep wet wipes close to clean between colors.

Alternately- trace them on rainbow paper and practice scissor skills!

If your kiddo is too little to keep their hand open, try a foot print! Do one of each color, or try a single rainbow footprint.

Green Pepper Painters are a good way to use that pepper from the bottom of the fridge that is a bit too squishy to eat. Or, when you cut the top off one for dinner, just cut an extra inch. Easy peasy paint tool! (Read more on Crafty Morning)

Glittery Play Clay is always fun. Make a large batch and give your kiddo a small batch at a time in case cat hair (or whatever) gets in it. (Read more on amomsimpression)

Rainbow Cereal Rainbows are probably the most coordinated project on the list, and require the most items on my shopping list (since we don’t keep rainbow cereal or cotton balls at home). But it uses fine motor skills, rainbow memory, and glue (yikes) to really push them to learn through play. (Read more on growingajeweledrose)

Shamrock Dabbers are a messy way to paint a shamrock. Little ones can simply finger paint, or toddlers can use paint Danvers (if you have them) or marshmallows (we don’t have those). (Read more on thesimpleparent)

Leprechaun Handprint is a nice followup project if Kiddo liked the rainbow handprint rainbow. It also lets them practice drawing smiles! (Read more on messylittlemonster)

Rainbow Pasta Necklace is one of many fun ways to use colored pasta. Plus it uses fine motor skills to thread them. (Read more on Mommysbundle)

Alternatively, they can thread rainbow cereal!
