Last week was rough, and I was craving some self care in the form of a trip to Target without a certain redheaded toddler demanding a cup of whipped cream. This opportunity was used to try on a dozen one piece swimsuits, hopefully bringing one home.
My biggest concerns with swimsuits is modesty, since I have very small ladies on top, and length. My long torso means lotso cheeks. No one wants sand on their cheeks. But, once piece or not, a good swimsuit needs to be stylish for living on the beach all summer.
In case you missed it, I already tried on some two piece swimsuits (with Sassy in the changing room with me). That was an adventure on it’s own, as she tried on the pieces after me. (Read that recap, here) Obviously the top photo is me, and the bottom is the stock photo. My squishy mom-bod looks a lot different than the models (even with my slight addiction to the gym). My booty pics weren’t making it to the blog. Sorry, yall.

Women’s Textured Tie Front One Piece Swimsuit – Kona Sol™
This suit has a soft almost waffle texture that hides the tummy. It was very comfortable.
Women’s Side Strap One Piece Swimsuit – Shade & Shore™
This red suit felt very iconic, with the basic swoop neckline and thin straps. The side slits actually did not reveal more than I’d want. This suit was a favorite, even if it did nothing for my tummy.
Women’s Crochet Trim Plunge One Piece Swimsuit – Kona Sol™
Unlike my boring basic black bikini, this intense low V black swimsuit changes everything. It was surprisingly flattering.
This suit comes in black and dusty blue.
Women’s Strappy Back One Piece Swimsuit – Kona Sol™ Woodsy Green
With such a fun print and bold color, this suit was visually one of my favorite of the evening. The fun pattern is balanced between a basic front and strappy back. It’s listed as medium coverage, but there was no coverage in the nether region. I would size up. The top has a shelf bra and inserts.
Women’s Ruffle One Piece Swimsuit – Kona Sol™
I really wanted to love this suit, but the ruffles were insane. Every time I moved, the ruffles near the neck hit me in the shoulder. They didn’t lay flat. It had great coverage and tummy support.
This suit comes in three colors- Black, Blue, and Burgundy.
Women’s Shore Lightly Lined Mesh Inset One Piece – Shade & Shore
Although mesh cuttouts, especially black mesh, don’t always scream modesty or fun in the sun, this print worked. The suit itself was very comfortable, and with multiple ties it was very adjustable for the perfect fit.
Women’s Cut Out Elastic Trim One Piece Swimsuit – Xhilaration™ Black
During my bikini try on, I realized I wasn’t a fan of Xhilaration brand, but still stuck this one in the cart. I was equally let down- my mom bod wasn’t a fan of that front cutout, and pudged over. Definitely size up unless you enjoy wedgies and rolls.
Women’s Shirred Tie Shoulder One Piece Swimsuit – Kona Sol™
These polka dots are adorable, and it was actually the first suit tried. The ties at the shoulder allow easy adjustment for the length, plus add a fun flare. The belly coverage was fabulous.
