Does your family get family photos? When I was a kid, my family never got family photos. The exception being two occasions where we went on a family vacations (Virginia Beach one year and Disney another) and stood together as tourists and had a picture taken as a family.
Recently, we found a local photographer that we really liked. First, she did our mini fall photoshoot that we used for Christmas gifts for each of our family. I love blowing up photos onto canvases. Then she shot our engagement photos.
So when my sister and her family decided to come down to South Carolina for the first time, I knew I wanted to get family photos taken. The only thing that could possibly be better then a photo with my sister and me, and our children, would be if our parents got involved as well.
So I made it happen.

Choosing the Outfits for Family Photos
Coordinating outfits for so many people was a daunting task. Ultimately, we decided that jeans would be the best decision, even though Ryan and my brother-in-law, Josh hate jeans. we considered putting Josh in brown shorts, which would allow Ryan to wear skinny jean khakis. But if my dad was allowed the opportunity to wear khakis, he would have them iron pressed. There’s no casual with my dad.
We originally thought that we would go all go with a salad blue top. but before we knew it, my niece was wearing a jumpsuit with a Jean jacket, and my mom realized that she had a similar jumpsuit with a Jean jacket as well. We spent for too long, looking for an outfit for Sassy that would match, but ultimately put her back in the skirt from our fall photos and paired it with a solid blue shirt. I grabbed a cheap shirt from target as well, and Ryan pulled a Christmas gift from the closet.
My mom ended up changing her outfit last minute. She literally showed up in a different outfit and we agreed in. My brother-in-law Josh ran to the store the day of the photo shoot to find two shirt options. He ended up with a printed shirt as well. My nephew was going to wear a dapper button up with dinosaurs on it, but it was slightly too big. Ironically, my mom also known as Gigi brought him a different button up with dinosaurs on it. She also brought Sassy a denim jacket to match, which worked since she hates jeans, and refused to wear them as a bottom.
Instead of jeans and solid blue T-shirts, we were some blue jeans, some printed jumpsuits, lots of printed shirts.
Sounds like it was a big mix match, but it actually worked out fine.
Where?
We ended up having the photos Taken at the new riverfront park in Park Circle, North Charleston, South Carolina. There were so many different parts of the park to get different scenery.
We made sure to get the big group photo first, as well as some mini family unit photos, before the kids needed to get some wiggles out.
Once again, we used Bailey, the photographer behind Sweet Blake Photography.
Here it is, y’all. The first ever professional photo of my parents, my sister and me.
I am so excited to add these professional family photos into our memory books and onto our walls. And I hope to have so many more family photo shoots in the future. I strongly recommend that you book a family photo shoot as soon as possible. The memories are worth it.
