Falling into Sweater Weather: Fall Sweater Round-up

Even though it’s barely fall, pumpkin season just launched which means it’s time for the plaid and the booties and the fuzzy blankets- oh, and bring out the fall sweater. Have you tried the new Pumpkin Cold Brew? It’s fricken amazing, way better than a pumpkin spice latte. The pumpkin cold brew is smooth, rich and creamy, with the perfect amount of sweetness.

Obviously I’m not ready for hot pumpkin spice latte yet, and I haven’t pulled out the booties yet. (Although I did try some on) It’s hard to think about staying warm when it’s so warm, but a great fall sweater is essential for the seasonal transition. Throw it over a pretty bralette or tank, and it’s a staple between summer and fall. A good sweater can also be worn into winter, so choose wisely.

What’s trending in sweaters?

  • Warm neutrals. Although there will never be a fall season without bold autum tones (rust, mustard, olive, burgundy), this season were seeing more taupe, grey, and blush.
  • Color blocks and big stripes. This is self explanatory, so my only comment is that I need to have continuity in my blocks. There’s a lot right now where the stripes and blocks don’t line up. Not for me.
  • Animal print. We saw a lot of leopard print pop up this summer, and snake skin is joining the party for fall.
  • Wide necks and long sleeves. Initially I thought people were just sizing up, but the body is still a good fit. Wide necks let pretty bralettes poke out, and long sleeves are slouchy and comfy. This is great for breastfeeding moms!
  • Crop tops. Cropped sweaters seem odd, since an exposed tummy will not keep you warm. But high waisted pants are working their way back. So don’t fight the balance.
  • Ragged edges . Unfortunately for y’all, this trend looks horrid in my opinion. So if you want the distressed raw hem, go elsewhere. This mama does not embrace the hot mess, and my sweater looking like it lost a battle with the top load washing machine agitator isn’t working in my favor.

So I spent some time browsing my favorite bargain shop, SHEIN, looking at sweaters and comparing reviews. I’ve rounded up ten of my favorite, affordable sweaters. Full disclosure; I haven’t bought all of these sweaters, but have had great success with SHEIN so far. Be sure to look at materials and measurements before ordering. The best part, all of my faves below are under $30.

Fall Sweater Roundup

Simplee Color-block Drop Shoulder Sweater // This thick knit sweater also comes in a hunter green, and is super versatile

Leopard Drop Shoulder Oversized Sweater // this fall sweater doesn’t have many reviews, but I absolutely loved how it looks. Unfortunately, without reviews, it’s a guessing game. But the length looks great for fellow tall girls.

Simplee Solid Drop Shoulder Pocket Front Sweater // what’s not to love about this oversized waffle knit, with a wide v-neck and flare sleeves? The blush color is absolutely beautiful. And it even has a pocket, although I’m not sure what to put inside.

Leopard Print Open Front Cardigan// technically this isn’t a fall sweater, its a cardigan, so sue me. But, it looks very similar to a popular open cardigan that goes for twice the price, so if it’s any good it’s a steal for sure.

V-Neck Twist Front Sweater // this cute sweater comes in a dozen colors, but of course the blush pops out to me. The twist front gives it a slight crop, so pair it with high waisted jeans. Oddly, it’s one size, so sorta a guessing game there.

Drop Shoulder Color Block Textured Sweater// how cute is the knit detail on this color block sweater? There are at least three color ways of this fall sweater, plus a grey option.

Cable Knit Solid Jumper// there’s nothing neutral about this bold, chunky sweater, but it’s wonderful and it needed to get on my list. Many reviews advised to size up!

Leopard Contrast Colorblock Sweatshirt// I think chevron died, but I don’t care.  This sweatshirt gives me high school popular crowd vibes, not that I was ever cool enough to know what that meant

Two Tone Long Sleeve Pullover // this fun sweater is great because it can be worn as your top, or thrown on over your shirt and removed inside. The fabric blend appears to be super soft, which is a sweater essential

Leopard Print Colorblock Pullover // such a simple sweater but bam a kick of leopard says here I am. It definitely gives me spirit tee vibes, possibly more than fall sweater, but it still works as a pullover.

So tell me…

Which of the fall sweaters above is your favorite?
